How poignant life becomes

Christmas makes you realise how precious kindness, friendship and downtime is. Life can be all consuming with little scope for reflection. Simple things have made me think this Christmas - like how we take for granted that next Christmas will come and pass, that those we love will be with us next year to share love, food, laughter and downtime. And like how much love and care my friends, family and work mates give. And how much the little things matter, like a homemade gift of shortbread, a scarf, or a batch of cheese scones. Or a memory created from time together, a moment in time etched into your memory.

As I get older - I realise how important savouring time, people and moments really are. That is why I love Christmas.
